» Auckland Half Ironman (21/02/2006)

Saturday 28th started bright and early with a house full of athletes crammed into our small place. We all made our way to the swim start at Maraetai , east Auckland, and warmed up for the two-lap swim. I could tell by 7am, it was going to be a very hot day. I managed to lead out of the swim being quickly followed by Steven Sheldrake
On the cycle I had a good companionship with Steven Sheldrake and we worked to gain a 6 minute lead off the bike. Things were going well and I managed to push out in front. I ran hard into the run with a fast confident pace, but unfortunately cramp took hold in the second lap and I was forced to pull out, thinking it would not be good to push too hard with only 6 weeks until the main event- NZ Ironman.

Thank you all

Talk soon doeboy
