» Port of Tauranga Half Ironman (10/01/2006)
Hi All,

I had another great race this weekend (7th of Jan) at the Port of Tauranga half ironman. It just wasn't quite good enough to grab the win; being beaten in a tight battle by Nathan Richmond to finish 2nd for the second year in a row.
Leading from the water with a group of three I pushed hard early on the bike to try and open up a gap, but Nathan and Steven Sheldrake held on well as we all came off the bike together in a fast time of 2 hours and 4 minutes. Leading out on the run Nathan and I ran shoulder-to-shoulder for 15km until he put in a burst that I was unable to respond to, crossing the line 1min20sec back in second and 11 minutes ahead of third placed Sheldrake.
I had another great race and my form and progress is continuing to climb heading towards Ironman NZ. I have a few easy days now before the next big phase before Ironman.

Once again thank you all for your great support and noise over the weekend i couldnt do it with out it ! and to all the doeboy look a likes and the A team you guys rock!!! I look forward to seeing you all at Ironman.

Kind regards, talk again soon doeboy
