ITU World long distance champs.

With a great build up leading into this race I had high expectations of myself knowing how good of shape I was in,unfortunately I didn't have the race I had hoped for but still held on for a solid 9th place finish with a strong field assembled.

Race morning was cool and very windy with the river like the ocean with white waves this couldn't have worked better for me.
I swam strong exciting the water in front along side Clayton Fetal with a gap of 1min30 over the rest of the field.
Once on the bike I pushed hard but just didn't seem to have the power that I expect from myself on the bike but still I continued to push at the front hoping that on the 3 lap of 4 I would extend my lead, by the time the 3rd lap came I had lost even more power and the temp was rising fast I kept the pressure on as hard as I could and eventually came off the bike first with Paul Ambrose and with a gap of 1min40 over the chase pack.
I knew my legs weren't doing it for me today and tried to work trough it on the run but was going backwards so from here my goal was a top 10 finish at the World champs which I managed to achieve finishing 9th.

All in all it was not the day I expected but another one to learn from and a step forward now a couple of weeks easy before the base begins for my NZ campaign...cant wait.

Cheers Doeboy
