Doe does it tough for Canadian win

He may have won by nearly eight minutes, but New Zealand triathlete Kieran Doe's win in the Ironman Canada was by no means easy.
Doe blitzed a strong field in British Columbia yesterday in what was his first race back after a horror bike crash late last year.
It was Doe's first win in an Ironman event and was made all the more remarkable after he fought his way back from a severe leg injury last December after a head-on crash in Mount Maunganui.
Doe says the road back has been a tough one with on-going injury and personal issues. He lead the race from start to finish but he says he suffered in the final ten kilometres of the marathon run, with his quads feeling like concrete, and he had to be careful as he was starting to cramp up a bit.
Doe says he was running on empty but the crowd was incredible and it was an incredible feeling running the last 500 metres down the finish line.
Doe's next major event is the world long-distance championships in Texas in December.
