Bentley and Doe take 2007 Subaru Ironman Canada

Penticton, BC – Lisa Bentley and Kieran Doe claimed the 25th Subaru Ironman Canada titles today in Penticton, BC. Doe, 26 of New Zealand posted a time of 8: 32:45 to claim his first Ironman championship. Bentley’s time of 9:41:01 marked her third win at the Canadian event and was the Caledon, ON resident’s eleventh career victory.

Sara Gross of Calgary took second in 9:41:01 and Heather Fuhr, also an Alberta native rounded out the Canadian sweep in a time of 9:49:36. Bentley came out of the water seven minutes down on the top woman and worked her way through the frontrunners to finally take the lead on the run.

Jonathan Caron made a move to Penticton to train on the Subaru Ironman Course and it paid off with a second place finish. The Quebec native finished in a time of 8:39:59. Third place went to Chris Brown of Calgary in 8:49:34.

Subaru Ironman aired live at www.ironman.com and Shaw Cable throughout the Okanagan Valley and will be shown on TSN nationally on Saturday October 20th at 12 noon ET.

Over 2,200 athletes participated in the 25th edition of Subaru Ironman Canada under perfect racing conditions. The picturesque Okanagan Valley played host to an international field that was competing for a $75,000 (Canadian) pro prize purse and 80 qualifying spots for the 2007 Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
